From the Depths and into our hands
My first ill fame zine is in print!
My #mermay project post-ill fame sea witches, which I wrote about a couple of weeks ago, has now been printed and is available to buy through my ko-fi.
From the Depths
For May this year I wanted to give myself a little challenge in making my first artbook/zine, using the theme of the annual hashtag #mermay. Frankly, as someone that writes and draws a comic with shapeshifting sea creatures in it, my MerMay contribution was way over due.
From the Depths an A5 20 page zine showing all eight of the witches I’ve shared before, complete with their bio’s, and a new introduction to the collection written from the view point of the in-zine narrator, a court historian for the kingdom of Ulva.
I’m really happy with how they came out, and I really hope, if you choose to buy one, you’ll love it, too. Honestly, there’s nothing like holding a book in your hands, having a physical art object, and it’s really inspired me to persue this type of art more in the future.
It is available to buy now on my ko-fi.
The individual witches are also available to buy as prints and stickers on my redbubble.
P.S. Did you spot all the easter eggs for the trinkets used within ill fame in these promo shots? Saer’s barnacle covered oyster shell. Apotropaic amber. A precious marble. Sea glass. Rhys’ holey-shell-cum-hagstone. Frankie’s hagstone. The spiny conch that is the inspiration for the Sea Realm’s crowns. The stones with eyes on them. And the alder catkin and circle stone, which we’ll see in episode 106.
